Reimagining the FDC

The Federation of Dance Competitions (FDC) began as a coalition to streamline dance competition elements, standardize competition guidelines, give back to the studios and become the leading benchmark for excellence in the industry. We have alreadystandardized group sizes, time limits & age classes. We inaugurated the Pinnacle Cup, Studio of Excellence Award, & the People’s Choice Award to recognize and fulfill our goal of ‘giving back to our clients’. We have held galas in Las Vegas, New Orleans, Dallas, andCancun to recognize these achievements and to present the FDC Humanitarian Award, Teacher of The Year and multiple scholarships to deserving college bound dancers.

Today, the FDC is at a crossroads. While we have accomplished much in 5 short years, we know there is more we can still do. We are taking the 2013 season to revisit our mission, purpose, and vision in order to take the FDC to a new and even higher level. This reimagining will include new membership criteria for enhanced growth, innovative fundraising opportunities plus numerous additional opportunities to recognize and celebrate the many deserving people in our industry including scholarships, Teacher of the Year & Humanitarian awards. A completely revised web site with a focus on outreach is also being planned.

That is not all. FDC members will still be presenting the Studio of Excellence Award at each finals and the People’s Choice Awards will be chosen at each regional for voting in June. Till then, we will be busy reinventing this organization for you. We look forward to collaborating with you to ensure a positive future for the dance industry.  Thank you for your unwavering support of the FDC.
